Introduction to Management & Supervisory Skills

Training Programme Overview:

This training programme is unit standard-based and aligned and is an intermediate level (NQF level 5) supervisory and team management/leadership skills development offering. 

The programme effectively blends the theory and practice of management/supervision with practical application tools and techniques.

At the conclusion of this programme, learners will be capacitated to plan, organize, lead/motivate and control teams towards productivity and performance improvement.

This training programme also considers the purpose of an organization and what it seeks to achieve to meet the expectations of its various stakeholder groups.

Specific outcomes:

• Mastering the role, functions, styles and skills of management 
• Learn how and when to implement individual management styles and identify which is most appropriate in a given set of circumstances
• Explain the core business of an organization and the different types of work done as well as their respective roles within the various core activities of an organization
• Identify and explain the difference between the line and support functions within a selected organization
• Planning, organizing/allocating, delegating  and controlling work
• How to set, agree upon and monitor objectives
• Applying individual and group decision-making techniques
• Implementing the problem solving process
• The ability to communicate with more confidence and build positive working relationships with team members.
• Techniques for managing time effectively and how to delegate tasks with confidence.
• The confidence to develop team members through one to one training and coaching techniques.
• An understanding of what motivates people and how to give them constructive feedback on their performance.
